Foreign fugitive wanted on European Arrest Warrant captured in Torrevieja
The man was caught while trying to evade a routine police check in the port area

The Guardia Civil have arrested a 41-year-old Slovakian man in Torrevieja who was on the run from authorities in his home country and who had a European arrest warrant out against him.
The arrest was made on took place on Saturday March 29 during a preventive police operation in one of the main leisure areas of Torrevieja which was aimed at checking people and vehicles accessing the port area, which is very popular on the weekends.
During the course of their routine checks, police officers noticed a vehicle whose driver was trying to avoid the control. For this reason, the patrol acted preventively and proceeded to intercept the vehicle, finding two occupants inside.
After checking their identity, it was verified that the one occupying the passenger seat was the subject of a European arrest warrant issued by the Slovakian judicial authorities. It was later confirmed that the man had been living in Spain since mid-2024.
The detainee was placed at the disposal of the Central Court of Instruction number two of the Audiencia Nacional, which has ordered him to be remanded in custody pending extradition to Slovakia.
