Fresh heatwave brings 40-degree temperatures this weekend: Murcia weather forecast June 26-29
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any hotter, Murcia is set to break the 40-degree barrier this weekend
Murcia weather forecast, Thursday June 26
There have been yellow-level weather alerts active in the Region of Murcia for much of this week already for high temperatures, mainly in the centre of the province where temperatures in the shade have been reaching up to highs of 38ºC.
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecast for this Thursday and Friday is for a slight dip in temperatures – but only by a degree or two – and then for a heatwave with renewed strength at the weekend.
The forecast is for uniformly sunny conditions all weekend long, from Thursday to Sunday, with barely a cloud in the sky, and only a gentle breeze blowing.
For Thursday June 26 and Friday 27, no weather warnings have been issued for the Region of Murcia, though maximum temperatures will still reach up to 30-33ºC on the coast and 34-36ºC inland, so by no means will it be ‘cold’.

For Saturday 28, Aemet has reinstated the weather alert for the risk of high temperatures of up to 38ºC in the central part of the Region, including Murcia city, Molina de Segura and Alhama de Murcia.

These temperatures go even higher on Sunday 29, with maximums of 40ºC expected in Murcia city, 37-39ºC in other inland areas and 31-34ºC along the coast. At night, too, temperatures will not drop below 22ºC at the coolest part of the day.

All of which is to say it’s going to be very hot, so take care! The official advice in episodes of extreme heat like this is predictable, and sensible – drink plenty of water, stay out of the sun when it’s at its hottest and check on elderly relatives or neighbours to make sure they’re dealing okay.

- Friday June 27: Min 19ºC; Max 36ºC
- Saturday June 28: Min 20ºC; Max 38ºC
- Sunday June 29: Min 22ºC; Max 40ºC
