ARCHIVED - Video: Heroic officers save dog from frozen lake in Huesca
The men removed their uniforms before plunging into the freezing water in the community of Aragon, Spain
Two brave Guardia Civil officers in the province of Huesca went far beyond the call of duty this week when they plunged into an icy, frozen lake to rescue a dog that fallen in and was at risk of drowning.
According to official sources, a concerned passer-by notified the police in the north-eastern community of Aragon of the emergency situation at 11am on Tuesday December 7. A patrol from the Canfranc post immediately fled to the scene.
Without a second thought, two officers stripped down to their underwear and plunged into the freezing lake. The Guardia Civil has reported that one officer used a large branch to clear the ten metres of ice in his path in order to reach the dog, who was rescued unharmed from the water.
