ARCHIVED - Highest number of deaths in the region since beginning of April: Alicante Covid update May 3
55 new cases in the region of Valencia and 11 in the province of Alicante
The Valencian regional health authorities have administered a total of 1,717,057 doses of the coronavirus vaccine; 202,079 in Castellón, 628,618 in Alicante and 886,360 in Valencia. In total, 512,882 people are fully immunised (two doses for Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca or a single dose of the Janssen vaccine).
In the most recent coronavirus update published on Monday (May 3), 55 new cases were reported in the region of Valencia, of which 11 were in the province of Alicante.
On Sunday 114 cases were reported in the region and on Saturday the figure was 179.
These recent figures show that the number of new daily Covid cases is remaining stable and the figures are similar to those from a few weeks ago.
On Monday, there were 15 and 6 covid-related deaths reported in the region of Valencia and the province of Alicante, respectively, which is a steep rise in fatalities as the 7-day average of daily deaths in the Comunidad Valenciana is 7.
In the region of Valencia, the latest cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants in the past 14 days published on May 3 was 42.97, which is the lowest rate in Spain and shows a slight decrease from the previous figure (43.83). The national incidence rate has also decreased over the past few days and is now 223.75.
The regions with the highest incidence rates in the country are the Basque Country (496.91), Madrid (368.99) and Navarra (332.28), highlighting concerns that once the state of emergency ends on May 9 that freedom of movement will permit those from areas with higher incidence rates to once again travel to the region, mainly to holiday homes and holiday resorts.
