ARCHIVED - House blaze at natural park in Denia
The fire broke out at a villa on a mountain slope in Montgó natural park in the Marina Alta, Alicante province

Firefighters were forced to act quickly following a house blaze in the Les Galeretes area of Massif Montgó natural park in Denia amid fears the flames could spread to nearby properties and vegetation.
The source of the fire, which broke out at around 11am on Saturday January 8, is believed to have been a butane gas cooker.

A team from Alicante Firefighters Consortium was immediately sent to the detached villa in Calle Pita, accompanied by Denia Local Police, where they spent 45 minutes extinguishing the flames and preventing the fire from spreading.

However, whilst there were no reported injuries, the property suffered significant damage. The entire building was smoke damaged and three rooms were completely gutted by the flames.
