Ibuprofen recalled in Spain over health scare
Orders to withdrawal two brands of Ibuprofen have been made in Spain: These are the affected batches
The Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) issued a health alert a few days ago ordering the withdrawal of two batches of Ibuprofen after both drugs failed quality controls.
The health authority issued the alert on October 8, regarding ibuprofen Pensavital 400 MG and ibuprofen Mabo-Farma 400 MG. Both are film-coated tablets and sold in 20 tablet packets.
According to the AEMPS, the affected batches are:
- Ibuprofen Pensavital, manufactured by Farmalider SA: batch 464X with expiration date 07/31/2026.
- Ibuprofen Mabo-Farma, manufactured by Farmalider SA: batch 468X with expiration date 07/31/2026; batch 469X with expiration date 07/31/2026, and batch 470X with expiration date 07/31/2026.
The AEMPS states that the defects found in both medicines “do not pose a risk to the patient’s life”. In any case, the withdrawal from the market of all distributed units of the affected batches has been ordered and they have been returned to the laboratory through the usual channels.
