Irish boy fighting for his life after near-drowning in Spain
The 16-year-old tourist remains in critical condition in a Mallorca hospital

An Irish teenager is fighting for his life after almost drowning in a hotel swimming pool in Mallorca. At around 2pm on Tuesday August 20, lifeguards at the all-inclusive Globales Bouganvilla in the town of Sa Coma realised the 16-year-old was in distress and sprang into action.
The boy was pulled from the pool and lifeguards began basic life support manoeuvres before the emergency services arrived at the resort. A well-placed source claims the teen went into cardiac arrest and paramedics performed CPR in an attempt to stabilise him on site before transferring him to Manacor Hospital.
“He was very serious when he was taken to hospital,” the same source said.
The boy remains in critical condition, and medical staff are doing everything possible to ensure his recovery.
