Irish child, 11, falls to her death from hotel balcony in Spain
The young girl plummeted from the Mallorca hotel while on a family holiday
Another unspeakable tragedy has hit the popular tourist island of Mallorca following the death of an 11-year-old Irish girl, who fell to her death from the seventh floor of a hotel in the resort of Puerto de Alcudia while her family slept just metres away.
Early reports indicate that the horrific accident occurred at around 6.30am on Monday July 22 and that the youngster was staying at the three-star Club Mac, an all-inclusive, family-friendly hotel in the northeast of the island.
An official investigation will of course be launched and the Guardia Civil have yet to comment, but it’s understood that the child’s death was accidental. According to local sources, the girl fell around 65 feet from the balcony to the roof a restaurant on the first floor.
It would seem that the girl went out onto the balcony by herself while her family were still sleeping inside.
Emergency responders were quickly on the scene but were sadly unable to revive the Irish girl. A post-mortem will be carried out later today.
One well-placed insider said: “The girl who died was one of three children.
“The family were due to return to Ireland today (Monday).
“The youngster’s parents were sleeping when she fell and had no idea what had happened until afterwards.”
Less than three weeks ago, Irish dad Michael Grant was found dead in the middle of the street while on holiday in Magaluf. The 45-year-old physiotherapist from Hillview in Waterford died of cardiac arrest when he was on vacation with his wife and four children.
