Iryo offers combined train and bus tickets for Cartagena, Murcia and Benidorm from June
Passengers can take advantage of this offer once the high-speed route between Alicante and Madrid resumes on June 2
Iryo, the Italian-Spanish rail company owned by Air Nostrum, Globalvia and Trenitalia, has announced a new special offer to coincide with the daily high-speed train service that will resume between Alicante and Madrid this June. This involves multi-mobility tickets, that is, combined train and bus passes, that will make it easier and cheaper for passengers to reach their final destinations like Benidorm, Elche, Santa Pola, Murcia and Cartagena.
This is a formula that Iryo already offers with combined tickets for Air Nostrum flights and its own trains.
The announcement came after Simone Gorini, CEO and General Director of Iryo, met with a group of business leaders in Alicante, including representatives from hotels and transportation companies.
According to Gorini, the goal is to provide users with a seamless travel experience by integrating timetables between trains and buses, allowing customers to catch connecting rides simply.
“It’s about making things easier for the customer,” Gorini said, explaining that this summer, passengers will be able to enjoy a seamless transition between Iryo rail and bus services. He added that the company would soon start coordinating timetables and selling integrated tickets for all eleven Spanish destinations where Iryo currently operates.
Currently, Iryo runs weekend services (Friday to Sunday) with high demand, achieving a remarkable 68% to 70% occupancy rate. However, starting June 2, the rail operator intends to restore its four daily frequencies between Alicante and Madrid, while potentially introducing the new ticketing system shortly afterward.
“Right now we are explaining the initiative to city councils and communities, and to public and private operators. It is a job that requires time and work,” commented the Iryo manager.
One notable success story is the ongoing partnership with Air Europa, which demonstrates how effective collaboration can lead to better travel options for consumers.
