If you find yourself in the Spanish capital this Saturday July 6, you’ll witness vibrant Madrid gearing up for its annual LGBT+ Pride demonstration, the largest in Europe and a beacon of peace, equality, diversity, inclusion and freedom.
This year’s event, under the theme “Education, Rights and Peace: Pride that Transforms”, promises to be a powerful statement of unity and a celebration of the LGBT+ community’s resilience.
The national LGBT+ Pride demonstration, always held on the first Saturday of July, attracts around 2 million people from across Spain and beyond. It is a culmination of the LGBT+ Pride celebrations, a series of events and protests advocating for the visibility and equal rights of lesbians, gays, trans, bisexuals, intersex individuals and more.
This year’s demonstration carries a particularly important message, according to organisers. In a society where LGBT+ rights are often threatened and hate speech and crimes are on the rise, it is crucial to raise our voices and stand against regression.
The march is a tool to advocate for real and effective equality in all spheres of life, demanding an end to discrimination and injustice.
The Pride demonstration serves as a powerful display of unity and visibility for the LGBT+ community. It is a day when people from all walks of life come together to celebrate their true selves and demand recognition and respect.
The march will commence at the Glorieta de Carlos V at 7pm and conclude at the Plaza de Colón, where the manifesto will be read aloud.
