Lidl is about to open a new store in Murcia
The 1,400 square metre supermarket in Yecla will open by the end of June

Popular German discount supermarket Lidl is continuing its expansion across Spain with a brand new store in the Murcia municipality of Yecla. With a view to opening by the end of June, the supermarket will be located in front of Cespín Park, just a few metres away from Burger King.
The store itself will be spread over 1,400 square metres, while 8,000 square metres of land outside will be turned into a large car park for customers.
The last Lidl supermarket to be built in the Region of Murcia sprung up in the Alcantarilla commercial park in May 2022, but the chain has big plans in Spain. Along with the Yecla branch, another store will open in Madrid this month and between the two, the German brand will invest more than 9 million euros and employ around 50 staff.
During the 2023 fiscal year, Lidl opened 20 stores throughout Spain and inaugurated a warehouse in Escúzar in Granada, which joins other logistics centres such as those in Constantí in Tarragona, Martorell in Barcelona and Parla in Madrid.
"We currently have 18 points of sale in the Region of Murcia and our intention is to continue progressively expanding our presence," sources from the German company indicated recently.
In fact, the company already generates 2% of GDP by providing 4,000 jobs in the Region.
