Lorca invests 60,000 euros in new fire protection system for the Teatro Guerra
The current system is 38 years old and needs replacing
Lorca City Council has reported that it is going to immediately undertake an investment of around 60,000 euros with the aim of providing the Teatro Guerra theatre with a new fire protection system to replace the one currently in service.
The theatre has temporarily been shut while work takes place. Santiago Parra, the Councillor for Culture, explained that the administrative process for the start of this work has already begun in order to shorten the execution period to a minimum. Therefore, if no unforeseen events arrive the theatre could resume its normal activity from January.
The works will be carried out with the category of the building in mind. Catalogued as a Property of Cultural Interest (BIC), the theatre will have a state-of-the-art system to provide greater security to respond to any eventuality.
The current system includes a circuit of steel pipes that have leaked over time, generating dampness that has been detected especially over the last three years, and which will now be corrected.
During the period in which the work is being carried out, the events that had been planned at the theatre will be moved to the Margarita Lozano Auditorium.
Tickets for these events can still be purchased at the Teatro Guerra box office. The office will remain available to all citizens during its regular opening hours.
Information regarding the theatre's programming can be found on its website:
