Massive Murcia rave shows no signs of stopping despite dozens of fines
The huge Fuente Alamo street party is expected to keep going until after Three Kings
Almost 100 Guardia Civil officers have been deployed to the Fuente Álamo circuit where an 8,000 person strong illegal rave has been underway since Saturday December 30. Police are now stationed at the two entrances to the public property to prevent any more revellers or supplies making their way in.
Everyone leaving the rave, which isn’t expected to run out of steam until Three King’s Day at least, is being tested for drugs and alcohol and more than 30 party-goers have already been fined.
Only one arrest has been made, that of a Brazilian national who was found to be carrying 90 LSD pills and 4.1 grammes of liquid LSD.
Despite the fact that access has been cut off for anyone not living or working in the immediate area, the ravers are more than prepared for a long siege, as one Granada woman, who is attending the street party with her British boyfriend, explained.
“We knew that they could control it sooner or later. It already happened last year in the edition of the 'Big F**king Party' that was held in La Peza, a town in my province, Granada. That's why we come prepared, to hold out until January 6 or 7."
The agricultural area where this illegal party is taking place, about 12 kilometres from the centre of Fuente Álamo, is completely taken over by vans, trucks, caravans and vehicles arriving from different parts of Spain and Europe. The space is reportedly decked out with five sound towers where DJs pump out trance and techno music day and night.
There are also dozens of stalls selling hamburgers, beers, pizzas and even sofas for those who want to rest for a while.
The illegal rave began last weekend when the first attendees broke the lock on the main door of the publicly owned facilities. By mid-afternoon on Sunday there were already more than 5,000 people present.
According to local officials, there are currently no plans to shut down the party given the huge number of ravers on site.
