May 19-21 Elche Street Food Market
14 food trucks will roll into town for the weekend event in Elche's Paseo de la Estación
Elche is gearing up to host its 8th Street Food Market from May 19 to 21, a three-day celebration of cuisine from around the world, music and art.
This year, 14 food trucks will pitch up in the Paseo de la Estación offering national and international food from the United States, Venezuela, Argentina, Thailand and Mexico among other countries. The kitchens on wheels will serve up dishes for between two and 10 euros.
There will also be a street market with 18 craft and jewellery stalls, an 'art' zone, and free magic shows and entertainment.
Various bands and singers will also take to the stage. El Diluvi will perform on Friday, The Liverpool Band and El Jose will perform on Saturday, followed by the Billy Boom Band, Xeco Rojo and Javier Ojeda from Danza Invisible on Sunday.
DJ Adriasola will keep the music going before and after each concert.
Felip Sànchez, Councillor for Commerce, said: "Elche Street Food Market has become an important event with great attendance, exceeding 20,000 last year after becoming the first event held after the end of the restrictions of the pandemic".
The street fair will be divided into three areas connected by the different stages: the first being the market with 18 market stalls; the second is the food truck section; and finally the concert area.
"In addition to the food and concerts, there will be storytelling, comedy shows and face painting for children, as well as activities for adults such as live illustration and design demonstrations and book signings with the authors of the literary collective Letra Violeta," said organiser Amadou Sow.
Elche Street Market will be open at 7pm on Friday, and 12 noon on Saturday and Sunday.
