Medical emergency forces flight from UK to make rapid landing in Tenerife
The TUI flight was giving priority landing in Spain when a passenger suffered a suspected heart attack

Passengers aboard a TUI flight from the East Midlands arrived in Spain a few minutes sooner than planned on Monday June 6 when their plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Tenerife South Airport when a traveller fell ill.
According to Ait Traffic Controllers, the pilot radioed the medical emergency through to the tower and the runway was quickly cleared so that the UK flight could have a priority landing ahead of schedule.
Flight BY7128 was then able to shorten its route to make a rapid descent and emergency personnel met the plane on the tarmac. The poorly passenger, who was suffering from a suspected heart attack, was stabilised on board before being rushed to a nearby hospital.
Last month, an easyJet pilot had to request an emergency landing in Tenerife when a drunken brawl broke out between three passengers on a flight from Luton. Rather than facing fines in Spain, the troublesome trio was held in the airport and shipped back to the UK on the next available flight.
