ARCHIVED - Miracle dog rescued from inside engine housing in Fuengirola after being run-over by a vehicle
The dog was hit on the A-7 between Estepona and Marbella in Málaga, Andalusia
Incredibly, the poor dog was alive, although obviously traumatised by its experience.
An unchipped, and presumably, stray dog, has miraculously survived the impact of not only being run-over by a vehicle on the A-7 highway, between the municipalities of Estepona and Marbella, but then also spending two days wedged inside the engine housing of the same vehicle for two days.
It’s not clear how the impact caused the small dog to be bounced up from the road into the engine housing, but somehow the dog became wedged beneath the bonnet next to the engine where it remained undetected for two days.
The driver of the vehicle believed that she had run over the dog, but failed to stop and go back to check whether she had killed the animal or left it lying injured in the road.
The poor dog remained wedged inside her bonnet for two days before she became aware of its presence and called the Local Police requesting assistance to remove it.
After verifying that the dog was indeed wedged inside the body of the vehicle as described, the police in turn called in firefighters from Fuengirola (Malaga) to extract the dog.
The animal was conscious, although very disturbed by what happened and with some contusions on its limbs, which didn´t appear to be serious.
The dog was taken to the municipal zoosanitary center by the firecrew, and is reported to be recovering well after minimal veterinary intervention.
As the dog is unchipped, it will now be put up for adoption unless an owner comes forward to claim it.
