Missing British tourist found safe and well in Tenerife
31-year-old Kris Finney disappeared for 4 days while on holiday in Spain
A 31-year-old British man who went missing on the Spanish island of Tenerife has been found safe and well, bringing an end to a frantic search effort.
Kris Finney, an electrician working in Lancashire and the Greater Manchester area, had been on holiday in Tenerife since last Thursday October 31, but his family became concerned when they lost contact and hadn’t heard from him in four days.
He was reported missing by his distraught relatives, who said that it was very out of character for the young man not to touch base for so long.
The father-of-three texted his mum at around 4pm on the day he landed in Spain but concerns for his safety started to grow when he failed to meet up with a friend later that night.
But shortly after photos and details of his last known whereabouts were shared on social media, Kris was found by a local shopkeeper on Monday, who helped him out after he was left stranded without any money.
Kris was staying at Casa Natalia in the Armeñime area of western Tenerife.
“We are so relieved. We were sick with worry,” his aunt Debbie Kenyon told the media in the UK.
“He told me his phone had broken and he had no money or way of getting in touch with us.”
The incident has echoes of a similar case earlier this summer, when 19-year-old Jay Slater went missing on the island. Jay's disappearance sparked a massive search effort, but tragically, his body was found after he fell to his death.
