Most-wanted German fugitive arrested in Estepona for drug trafficking
The 36-year-old captured after months on the run following a major European anti-drug operation
A 36-year-old German man, who had been evading justice since October last year, has been arrested in Estepona on charges of drug trafficking. The fugitive was the subject of a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) following a significant anti-drug operation that spanned Germany, Belgium, Spain and the Netherlands. This operation led to the arrest of a dozen individuals and the seizure of 300 kilograms of drugs, €430,000 in cash, jewellery, numerous firearms, a large amount of ammunition and even explosives.
While most members of the organisation were apprehended during the initial raids, the German suspect managed to escape and had been on the run until his capture this February. Authorities tracked him to Estepona, where he was living under a false identity. Upon arrest, he was found in possession of €17,500 in cash and various drugs, including MDMA, pink cocaine and speed.
The detainee has been presented before the Central Court No. 6 in Madrid and is currently awaiting extradition to Germany, where he faces serious drug trafficking charges.
