Murcia artist Francisco Nicolas returns to the Region after two decades in the UK
The paintings will be on show in the Machine Room of the Párraga Centre in Murcia until November 2

After spending more than 20 years honing his craft abroad, mainly in the United Kingdom, Murcia artist Francisco Nicolás returns to the Region’s Párraga Centre on Thursday October 5 with his brand new exhibition, ‘Playing with space and landscape’.
The Murcia man has experimented with many different styles and techniques over the decades and his latest collection showcases 14 pieces in which he creates illusory spaces and plays around with spellbinding shapes and textures.
The paintings work both individually and together, generating an interesting dynamic with the original elements of the gallery’s ‘Machine Room’ itself.
The Párraga Centre will open its doors to the new exhibition at 8.30am on Thursday and ‘Playing with space and landscape’ can be viewed between 9am and 9pm, Monday to Friday, until November 2.
Speaking of his excitement at welcoming the new pieces, general director of the Institute of Cultural Industries and the Arts (ICA), Manuel Cebrián, said, “The Párraga Center continues to energise its activity with a new exhibition, consolidating its dialogue with all those interested in contemporary creation and supporting artists in the development of their professional careers.”
About the artist
Francisco Nicolás trained in Fine Arts in Barcelona, where he began his artistic career. He also collaborated with the Punto de Valencia and Jorge Kreisler galleries in Madrid before moving to Paris, where he exhibited at the Centre for Contemporary Art in Paris and the L'Aire du Verseau gallery. Upon his return to Spain, Nicolás’s pieces took pride of place at Madrid’s Reina Sofia Museum.
Ill health forced him to take a step back from painting between 1998 and 2008, after which he moved to London to exhibit at the Royal Academy. Following this stunning comeback, Nicolás has been represented by New York’s Artsy and 1stdibs platforms since 2005.
