ARCHIVED - Murcia Health Ministry plans to enforce Covid certificates for nightlife sector and private events
Lorca, San Javier and Totana have taken a step back as the rest of Murcia continues towards the new normality
The regional Ministry of Health in Murcia has requested that Covid certificates be applied to both the nightlife sector and private events such as weddings, christenings and communions.
According to the Health minister, using the Covid certificate as proof of vaccine or proof of a negative test result would mean that these events can once again have 100% occupancy in indoor venues, including bars and nightclubs, and the request has been submitted to the High Court in Murcia, which will make a decision in the upcoming days.
However, this new rule may not apply in some municipalities in the Region, as certain areas have reported a recent increase in Covid cases which has forced local authorities to apply stricter measures.
The municipalities of Lorca, San Javier and Totana are the only areas in Murcia currently at risk level 3, meaning that the occupancy limit for indoor venues, including bars, restaurants and private events, is 50%, although no limit is being applied for outdoor terraces and venues. The nightlife sector is also subject to the same restrictions for the time being.
In San Javier, the sharp increase in cases is due to an outbreak at a care home for the disabled in the municipality, where 17 residents and 15 staff members have tested positive so far.
