Murcia modernises city buses with smart payment system
Customers on Murcia buses will now be able to pay by card or with their mobile

Murcia city buses have taken a step into the future with the installation of an all-new ITS Central Management System designed to streamline the payment process.
As part of the Intelligent Transport System, the new project will allow customers to pay by card, mobile QR code, smartwatches, bracelets and key rings.
According to the council, virtually every system on board the city buses will be modernised including the ticketing and monetary system, the operating assistance systems, the inspection systems, the central system of control of public transport, as well as the web and mobile application for information and sales.
The project is another step towards Murcia’s goal for the total digitisation of urban transport with the aim of improving efficiency, accessibility, management and information for passengers as well as better “sales procedures, means of payment, compensation between urban and metropolitan operators, control and inspection of service quality by the municipal administration."
Revenga Ingenieros SA won the contract, worth 3,692,554 euros to update the systems.
