Murcia tennis champ Carlos Alcaraz stars in Costa Calida tourism campaign
The young tennis superstar is at the centre of a global publicity buzz about the Costa Cálida as a tourist destination

The latest tourism campaign to promote the Region of Murcia, which has a budget of 1.5 million euros and which aims to reach Spanish households by generating more than 35 million advertising impacts this summer, will – for the second year in a row – star Murcia-born tennis player Carlos Alcaraz.
The campaign officially kicks off this Wednesday June 7 and hopes to reach both national and international tourists, promoting the Region of Murcia as a world-class holiday destination.
Part of the intrigue built by the advertising campaign centres around the messages Alcaraz draws on the television cameras after he wins his matches. Recently, he has drawn such images as a snorkel and a sailing boat, and a publicity video created around this claims to show people around the world puzzling over what these cryptic messages could mean.
In this video, Carlos, when asked, simply says, “You’ll understand” and at the end of the video the slogan appears saying, “Come and you’ll understand”.
Alcaraz is currently playing at the Roland Garros French Open tennis tournament in Paris. Since his rise to superstardom in the tennis world, he has become something of an ambassador for his home region of Murcia.
