Murcia weather forecast October 15-18: Thunderstorms and a drop in temperatures
The Region of Murcia faces a change in the weather this weekend, with thunderstorms and potentially heavy showers expected before temperatures fall sharply

After a warm start to the week, with temperatures reaching close to 30°C in some areas, cloud and occasional showers are forecast for Thursday and Friday. The risk of heavier rain and thunderstorms increases from Saturday onwards. Lets take a look at the daily breakdown:
Thursday October 15
Cloudy skies and occasional showers are forecast across the Region, although brighter spells should develop during the afternoon. No significant weather warnings are expected. Temperatures will remain relatively warm, with highs of 28°C in Cartagena, 27°C in Murcia city, 26°C in Lorca and 24°C in both Caravaca de la Cruz and Yecla.
Friday October 16
Cloudy skies are expected to continue on Friday, with low and medium-level cloud across much of the Region. Occasional showers cannot be ruled out in western areas, but conditions should remain largely dry elsewhere.
Temperatures will stay warm for October, with Murcia city reaching 29°C. Lorca and Yecla could see highs of 27°C and 28°C respectively, while Cartagena is forecast to reach 27°C. Caravaca de la Cruz should see a high of 27°C.
Saturday October 17
The weather is expected to become more unsettled on Saturday, with cloud increasing throughout the day before skies become overcast in the afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms could develop, with the strongest downpours more likely along the coast. AEMET warns that some showers and storms could be locally heavy, so it is worth checking the latest forecast before heading out, particularly in coastal areas.
Temperatures will remain fairly warm despite the changing conditions, with highs of 28°C in Murcia city, 27°C in Cartagena, 26°C in Lorca, 25°C in Caravaca de la Cruz and 25°C in Yecla.
Sunday October 18
Sunday looks set to bring the biggest change, with very cloudy or overcast skies and showers and thunderstorms that could be locally heavy.
Temperatures are forecast to fall across the Region, with the drop particularly noticeable in the Altiplano. Murcia city and Lorca are expected to reach just 21°C, while Cartagena could see a high of 21°C. Caravaca de la Cruz is forecast to reach 18°C, with Yecla struggling to get above 17°C.
Minimum temperatures will also fall in some inland areas, with overnight lows of 8°C in Caravaca de la Cruz and 9°C in Yecla.
With thunderstorms forecast and the possibility of locally heavy downpours, keep an eye on AEMET updates and any weather alerts issued over the weekend. Some reports are also raising the possibility of a DANA, although the situation should be monitored as forecasts develop.
