ARCHIVED - Murcia woman fakes her own kidnapping to frame ex-husband and his partner
The scorned ex-wife faces up to two years behind bars for falsely reporting a crime to Murcia police

A 40-year-old woman in Murcia has been arrested after her incredible kidnapping story unravelled to reveal more malicious motives.
The Spanish woman presented herself to the National Police claiming that she has been dragged from her car by two unknown persons while driving home. According to her statement, the ‘victim’ was badly beaten and threatened before she was grabbed by the neck and a bag was put over her head.
The woman alleged that she was then blindly bundled into another vehicle and driven to an undisclosed location, where she was held captive for several hours before managing to escape and flee.
Investigating officers began to smell a rat when the woman immediately suggested that her estranged husband and his partner were behind the kidnapping, and ongoing questioning revealed several inconsistencies in her account of the attack.
Finally, the scorned wife admitted to inventing the entire story with the express intention of harming her ex and more especially, his new girlfriend.
The Murcia woman was then arrested by the National Police for pretending to be the victim of a crime and, if convicted, could spend up to two years in prison.
