Murcia weekly weather forecast February 5-11: Rain, but not enough
Some rain is forecast for later this week, but for most of the time it will still be dry and warm
It’s been incredibly dry and sunny recently, and warmer than usual for this time of year. The region of Catalonia has just declared a state of emergency for its drought situation, and Andalucía has agreed to invest another 200 million euros in its water infrastructure to try to minimise the effects of the drought.
In the Region of Murcia, it was estimated by the water authorities that it would have to rain for the next month and a half non-stop in order to avoid a situation of ‘extraordinary drought’.
Well, as you may have guessed, that looks quite unlikely to happen right now. There will be a chance of some rain towards the end of this week, but the general weather forecast is for more sunny – and slightly cloudy – conditions, with temperatures above normal average values.
Monday February 5 starts off with some low clouds and morning mist, while there are “isolated frosts in the north of the Region,” according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), and “light breezy winds”.
Tuesday 6 will also be kind of overcast, but temperatures will rise noticeably, both minimums at night and maximums during the day. Tuesday will be the warmest day of the week, peaking at 25ºC in Murcia capital and 20-24ºC in all other areas, while at night it will be around 7-11ºC.

While temperatures on Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 are not forecast to be quite so high, they will only drop by a couple of degrees, so it will still be pleasantly warm. In addition, the cloud cover will part and it will not be so overcast, and the easterly winds will be very gentle, so it should feel hot enough.
On Friday February 9, a storm that is due to sweep in off the Atlantic and across mainland Spain will arrive in Murcia, bringing rain and stronger windspeeds of up to 30-35kmh on the coast around Cartagena and La Manga.

Still, most of the rain is forecast to clear up by Saturday 10, with windspeeds returning to normal and temperatures still in the high teens to low-20s. By Sunday 11, it will be mainly sunny again, with just some lingering rain hanging on in the far northwest of the Region, where there is also a chance of snow in the mountains as temperatures drop once again.
