The building work will centre around a new 3,350 square metre building being annexed to the hospital and the remodelling of the first floor of the General and Paediatric Emergency building.
This new building will have four floors and be used as an access point to the General Emergency Room as well as being home to the Observation ward and the Short Stay ward.
So far, the basic structural work on this new building has already been completed and the roofing and flooring are underway. Throughout the month of April, masonry and plumbing work will also be carried out.
Once the construction is fully completed, access to the Emergency Room will be definitively enabled from this building.
In addition, the Extraction area in this hospital was completely renovated last year and, during the pandemic, has been used to study the seroprevalence in hospital staff and for the follow-up of Covid patients.
The building work in this area cost around 400,000 euros and allowed the improvement of facilities and patient care in this department, where there are now 19 multifunctional individual boxes which allow patients to have more privacy.
