New book swap area launched at Corvera Airport
Passengers can now borrow and share books while waiting for flights at Murcia airport
Passengers travelling through the Region of Murcia International Airport will now have something new to make waiting less tedious: a book exchange area. The space has just opened near the boarding gates at Corvera and promises reading material for all ages and tastes.
Books of all kinds and in several languages are being offered, including children’s titles so younger flyers are covered too. The idea is to let people borrow a book while they wait and hopefully pass on something good when they’re done.
This initiative forms part of the airport’s ongoing Quality Plan. Its implementation was boosted by donations both from local public libraries and from airport staff, giving a community touch to the collection.
Earlier this summer, the airport installed two toilets specially adapted for people with ostomy bags, one for men and one for women, in the boarding area. These toilets include a sanitary device at the correct height, a hand-held shower hose, a counter for changing materials, hooks for bags or clothes and soap and toilet paper dispensers.
Corvera’s duty free area also received a redesign and expansion. The duty free shop was moved to a location immediately after security so that all passengers passing through security walk straight into the shopping area. Two new retail outlets opened this summer. One focuses on gourmet products and offers a tasting bar showcasing local wines, while the other specialises in sweets toys and gifts. The entire commercial area was redesigned with wider aisles, regional inspired decor and an emphasis on local products.
The goal behind the entire project is simple: to enhance the passenger experience with small but meaningful amenities, and to make the time people spend in the terminal a little more pleasant.
