New public car park opens in Torrevieja with space for hundreds of vehicles
The 7,000m² site is the first of five new parking areas planned to ease congestion around the Costa Blanca city centre

Drivers in Torrevieja will have more parking options from Saturday August 1 with the opening of a new public car park on the edge of the city centre.
The new facility is located between Avenida de la Estación, Calle Ciudad de Barcelona, Camino del Acequión and the N-332, on a 7,048m² plot of council-owned land that has been transformed into a temporary parking area.
Torrevieja Town Hall invested €35,515 in preparing the site, with work including clearing vegetation, removing waste, levelling the ground and laying a compacted gravel surface suitable for vehicles. Two new access points have also been created, allowing drivers to enter from Avenida de la Estación and Calle Ciudad de Barcelona.
The council says the new car park has been created to increase parking availability close to the town centre, reduce congestion and improve traffic flow in one of Torrevieja's busiest areas.
Because the work is temporary and fully reversible, the land can still be used for future development if needed. The gravel surface also allows rainwater to drain naturally into the ground, helping to preserve the site's permeability.
The new car park is the first of five planned parking areas that Torrevieja Town Hall intends to create at key locations close to the town centre and the port.
Together, the five sites are expected to provide more than 3,900 parking spaces, including accessible bays for people with reduced mobility.
The additional parking is intended to help offset the loss of spaces during the ongoing redevelopment of Torrevieja's port and encourage more people to leave their cars outside the busiest streets before walking into the town centre.
