Norwegian man stabbed at Murcia bus station discharged from hospital
The 37-year-old has left the hospital after emergency surgery, while the suspect remains in custody without bail

The Norwegian man who was seriously stabbed at Murcia's San Andrés bus station in an attack linked to his slot machine winnings has now been discharged from the hospital.
The 37-year-old was treated at the Morales Meseguer hospital after suffering deep abdominal wounds in the attack. He was taken there by ambulance from the bus station, where he underwent emergency surgery and spent time in intensive care. After moving to a regular ward, he was discharged and is now recovering at home.
The attack happened just before 12.45am on Sunday January 25, shortly after the 37-year-old had won a prize in the arcade inside the bus station in Murcia City. Outside on the street, the suspect struck him in the stomach with a machete, witnesses said.

A security guard was already at the scene before police arrived. The Norwegian man was left conscious but badly injured on the pavement. A 29-year-old Moroccan man stepped in to help and was also seriously injured during the attack. He was taken to Virgen de la Arrixaca hospital with severe cuts.
Early reports suggested there may have been two attackers, but police later confirmed there was only one. The second injured man had intervened to defend the victim.
The 20-year-old suspect remains in provisional custody without bail at Sangonera prison in Murcia. He faces charges of attempted murder or causing serious injury, as well as robbery with violence.
