November 9 Orihuela Costa reschedules Halloween celebrations
All of the parties in the city and along the coast were cancelled when Spain declared a 3-day mourning period
The spooky season is back on track in Orihuela Costa and city after the council cancelled all events between Thursday October 31 and Saturday November 2. Most official parties and events around the country were postponed when the Spanish government announced three days of mourning for the victims of the floods in Valencia.
But there’s good news for revellers young and old, as the celebrations will take place instead on Saturday November 9 with a packed programme of activities for all ages.
In Orihuela city centre, the Glorieta Gabriel Miró will be transformed into a Halloween wonderland, featuring:
- Craft, slime and face painting workshops
- Inflatable attractions for kids
- A parade starting at 8pm with drum bands, dance groups and plenty of ghostly participants
- A special Halloween train will be chugging along Duque de Tamamés-Gabriel Miró Avenue from 5pm adding to the eerie atmosphere.
In Orihuela Costa, calles Escorpión and Libra will be the setting for a howling good time, with:
- Craft, slime, and face painting workshops from 6pm
- A Halloween-themed parade at 8pm featuring batucadas and dance groups, with children and young people invited to join in
The parade will follow the same route as previous years, starting at Capricornio and ending at Aries (La Florida).
With a budget of 50,000 euros, Orihuela City Council has pulled out all the stops to ensure a memorable Halloween celebration.
