ARCHIVED - Over 50s in Murcia can now get booster jabs with no appointment
Children aged 11 and under in Murcia can also get their first jab without an appointment
At a press conference on Monday January 17, the Minister of Health in the Region of Murcia announced that over 50s could now get their top-up jab without making a prior appointment.
Children aged between 5 and 11 can also get their first doses without needing to book as of this Monday. The Minister went on to state that the Region has so far vaccinated 60,000 children aged under 12, which is equivalent to 45.8% of this age group. Although there is still a long way to go before reaching a 100% vaccination rate in children, Murcia is still ahead of the national average in Spain (40.9%).
Booster jabs are open to everyone over the age of 40, but only those over 50 can show up to vaccination centres without an appointment.
Meanwhile, Covid testing points have been set up across the Region to provide free tests for anyone who has been in contact with a positive case or who suspects that they could have coronavirus. For a full list of the health centres offering free tests click here.
