Passengers seriously injured in tourist bus crash in Barcelona
The airport coach, carrying 53 people of different nationalities, flipped over and tumbled down an embankment

The bus, which was travelling from Lloret de Mar in Girona to El Prat Airport in Barcelona, was carrying around 60 passengers of different nationalities when it left the road at kilometre 127.7 and tumbled down an embankment.
According to the local Emergency Medical Service, two people were seriously injured and taken to Germans Trias Hospital in Badalona, though their lives are not at risk. Another passenger was taken to Mataró Hospital with less serious injuries, while six others with minor injuries were treated between Mataró and Calella hospitals.
In total, medical teams assisted 53 passengers. Those unharmed were transferred to the Can Xaubet pavilion in Pineda de Mar, where they are receiving both care and psychological support.
Emergency crews arrived quickly on the scene. Fourteen units of the Generalitat Fire Service were deployed to help passengers, check the bus and search the surrounding area.

Many of the passengers managed to get out of the bus themselves and climb up the embankment. The company later sent another coach to collect those who were not injured so they could continue their journey to the airport.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation. The mayor of Palafolls, Francesc Alemany, explained that the bus came off the road “on a straight road that goes downhill just after the first tunnel that marks the boundary between the municipalities of Palafolls and Santa Susanna, before reaching where the old service area was and where there is now a photovoltaic solar panel installation.”
He added that “there is no special risk to traffic at the point where the accident occurred, as it is a straight road with maximum visibility.”
The mayor of Santa Susanna, Joan Campolier, also gave his reaction, saying that the outcome “could have been worse.”
Speaking to TV3, he noted that most of the passengers were “young people heading to the airport” and described the stretch of road where the crash happened as “flat and with good visibility.”
