ARCHIVED - Pleasant weather expected across Spain this Easter weekend: forecast Apr 6-9
Light rains are forecast in northern Spain but the rest of the country will remain dry and bright

The long-awaited Easter weekend has arrived in Spain, heralded by largely “stable” weather in most of the country and a “low probability of rain,” according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). The DANA which threatened to dampen spirits and impact the Semana Santa parades looks set to pass off the coast of Spain, leaving mostly dry and sunny weather in its wake.
Anticyclonic weather will prevail throughout Spain on Holy Thursday, April 6, and the day will be mostly clear, although it will become more overcast inland as the afternoon moves on. In general, no rain is expected with the exception of the north of the Canary Islands, although this will still be light and scattered.
Both day and night-time temperatures will rise, hitting 20ºC in almost the entire country and reducing the impact of night frosts. In the south, cities like Badajoz, Córdoba and Seville can expect to hit between 28ºC and 30ºC while along the Mediterranean coast the breeze will pull the thermometers down to the low 20s.
Andalucía has been placed on alert for high winds and adverse sea conditions on Thursday.
On Good Friday, April 6, Aemet warns that the “instability could increase in the northeast of the Peninsula,” with some light rain to be expected in eastern Cantabria, the Pyrenees, Catalonia, the Balearic Islands and the extreme south. The rest of the country will be mostly clear or a little cloudy and while the temperatures will dip in the north the mercury will continue to rise in the south.
The Andalucían community remains under a yellow weather alert for rough seas on Friday.
As we enter the weekend proper, Saturday April 8 promises to be slightly cloudy for the most part, a bit more overcast in eastern Cantabria and southern Catalonia, where some light rainfall could also occur. Showers and morning haze are again forecast in the Canary Islands but the rest of the country will remain dry for Easter Saturday.
Day-time temperatures will take a noticeable jump in southern Spain, reaching a summer-like 29ºC in parts of Murcia and the night will also be much warmer in most of the country.
Andalucía has been placed on yellow alert for stormy seas until 8am on Saturday.
On to the main event, Easter Sunday, April 9, and Aemet predicts a stable and pleasant day across Spain and in the Balearic Islands. The day will be largely bright and sunny although the cloudiness could increase towards the afternoon in the east with a chance of some weak showers.
In the Canary Islands, the skies will remain cloudy or with cloudy intervals, without ruling out some precipitation in the western islands.
Few changes are expected in the day or night-time temperatures overall compared to Saturday, but the day will be unseasonably warm in most areas.
