The National Police have since taken charge of the investigation
The body of a man, believed to be an American tourist, was found yesterday, Tuesday January 21, in an apartment in the centre of Málaga city. Spanish police have since opened an investigation to try and clarify the circumstances surrounding the death.
The body was found in a tourist building located on Calle Viento. According to witnesses there were screams and blows heard inside one of the apartments on Monday night at 8pm.
A neighbour is reported to have heard a man screaming at that time for about ten minutes “as if he was being killed”, but she looked out the window and saw nothing.
The woman then said that she heard nothing after the initial screams. It was only in the afternoon of the following day that she became aware that something had happened when the police had arrived on the scene.
As of right now, no further details have been released regarding the incident other than the fact that the victim was an 80-year-old American tourist found with a head injury and his belongings were stolen from his apartment. The man is said to have arrived on Monday in Malaga.
The investigation is ongoing and is being carried out by the Homicide Unit of this Police Force
