RAF pilot accused of raping British tourist in Spain
The serviceman was arrested in Mallorca after the young woman said he attacked her
A 27-year-old RAF serviceman appeared before the courts of Mallorca on Tuesday May 7 to answer accusations that he had raped a British woman who was holidaying on the Spanish island.
The young man, believed to have also been visiting Mallorca with a group of friends, was led into the courthouse in handcuffs having spent the previous night in a jail cell.
The woman reporting the incident, said to be around 21 years old, told the authorities that she and her attacker went back to a hotel room where the assailant allegedly ripped her dress off and forced her to perform oral sex on him before he raped her.
The couple reportedly became acquainted earlier in the day at a pub located within the party resort and had spent most of the day together on the beach prior to the incident.
She alleged that the sexual assault occurred around 5am on Monday May 6 on a balcony at the hotel. Police investigators managed to identify the suspect several hours later after receiving a formal complaint regarding the matter.
However, a closed hearing on Tuesday May 7 cleared the suspect of all charges and he was released immediately to return to the UK.
