Rain and cooler temperatures: Murcia weekend weather forecast February 20-23

We can expect some cloudy and rainy conditions in Murcia this weekend, joined by a dip in temperatures

Murcia morning weather forecast, Saturday February 22

The forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) for the Region of Murcia this weekend is for a wet and stormy Saturday, flanked by days that are somewhat cloudy but mostly dry, and with temperatures that barely reach over 20ºC at the height of the day.

For Thursday February 20, they predict “fairly cloudy skies, with intervals of low clouds and morning mist on the coast,” some of which is the hangover of some calima that affected other parts of Spain further west on Wednesday.

Things darken on Friday 21, with Aemet forecasting “very cloudy or overcast skies, with morning mist and fog” and there could be some residual rain coming across from the bottom of the province of Alicante. In addition, windspeeds could turn faster for a spell in the afternoon, up to 25kmh near Caravaca de la Cruz, and temperatures will begin to drop slightly.

It is on the morning of Saturday 22 when the heavens are forecast to open, bringing first light rainfall to the north, west and central parts of the Region, followed by thunderstorms in Lorca and Totana towards the afternoon as the rain shifts down to Cartagena and the Mar Menor.

Sunday 23 will be dry once again, but with plenty of cloud cover. Aemet predicts that “minimum temperatures will be unchanged on the coast and decreasing inland, with light frost in the northwest,” while “maximum temperatures rising on the coast and unchanged in the rest”.

Still, maximums will be below 20ºC on Saturday and Sunday, though these figures are expected to climb back up in the following days, up to highs of 25ºC by Tuesday 25, which is forecast to be much sunnier.
