ARCHIVED - Ryanair forgets 14 passengers and leaves them stranded at Spanish airport
The flight from La Palma to Malaga in Spain left without its passengers
Irish airline Ryanair made an embarrassing blunder this weekend as it forgot 14 passengers waiting to board a plane at La Palma airport headed for Malaga, and took off without them. The travellers were left furious, with one woman concerned that she would even miss a scheduled chemotherapy appointment in Andalucía.
The debacle occurred on Saturday April 30 when the ground crew organised passengers bound for flight FR5729 into groups to take the airport shuttle to the plane. When the last bus was full, the remaining 14 travellers were told to wait for a new ride.
“We saw the last bus leave, and there we stayed, waiting,” one disgruntled passenger explained.

As the minutes dragged on, the 14 eventually realised that the Ryanair plane had taken off without them while they stood waiting at gate C55.
“I don’t understood how it could have happened,” another passenger said. “We had presented the QR code at the security check. In the system it should appear that we were on land.”
Ryanair offered all of the passengers another flight at 10pm that night, along with a voucher for four euros to spend in the airport shops.
