ARCHIVED - Ryanair reaches 5-year pay deal with Spanish pilots
The airline has agreed to restore salaries to pre-pandemic level in both Spain and France
Irish airline Ryanair has reached an agreement this week with the Spanish union Sepla and the French SNPL to restore pilots’ salaries to their pre-pandemic level and implement other working condition improvements. The final details still have to be ironed out but Sepla has indicated that the agreement will remain in place until March 2027.
The agreements were ratified on Monday July 18 and "allow wage improvements and other benefits beyond the full return to salaries for Ryanair pilots based in France and in Spain," the airline said in a statement.
Ryanair added that this year the company expects to grow to 115% of its pre-pandemic capacity and is prioritising the early restoration of staff salaries through these renegotiated agreements to keep jobs safe and secure and have a foundation for future growth.
"Although recovery from the impact of the pandemic is still ongoing and our industry faces significant challenges, this long-term agreement offers stability, expedited salary restoration, future salary increases and other benefit enhancements for pilots." Ryanair said.
Unfortunately, no such agreement has been made between the airline and the unions representing its cabin crew in Spain and more strike days are scheduled throughout July.
