Scottish DJ, 38, dies from traumatic head injury in Spain
Glaswegian DJ Jackmaster suffered “an accidental head injury” while visiting Ibiza
Tributes are pouring in for famous Scottish DJ and producer Jack Revill, known to his fans around the globe as Jackmaster. The 38-year-old from Glasgow passed away in Ibiza at the weekend following “complications arising from an accidental head injury”, his family said in a statement.
His loved ones confirmed that the young man passed away suddenly on the Spanish island on Saturday October 12.
Described by relatives as “a beloved and pioneering figure in the electronic music community,” Jackmaster made a name for himself by discovering “countless” innovative young artists through his work with the Numbers label and Rubadub Records in Scotland.
Shortly before his untimely death, the DJ had released a brand new single, ‘Nitro’, to much acclaim.
“It was about feeling hyped and inspired in the club,” he told Electronic Groove music magazine.
“Sadly, those moments are rare now. Blame the phones and people who don't dance, I think.
“I am so grateful for my fans, but I got into music because I love dancing. It's a lost art form at the moment, I think”.
Music industry celebrities have come out in force to remember this “inspirational” and “amazing” young man.
“Devastated to hear of the tragic death of Jack Revill aka @jackmaster,” Irish DJ and broadcaster Annie Mac wrote on Jack’s Instagram page.
“He was hands down one of the best DJs in the U.K; fearless and forward thinking, committed to the job at hand.
“He was so charismatic, so fun, so sound, one of those guys who lit up a room. I always loved to see and speak to him.
“He was only thirty eight. I can’t believe he’s gone”.
Jackmaster’s skills as a DJ skills have been recognised worldwide on many occasions and he was regularly featured on Resident Advisor’s annual Top 100 DJs poll.
