ARCHIVED - Six down, seven to go: UK most wanted criminals still hiding out in Spain
These are the dangerous UK fugitives still believed to be on the run in Spain
Twelves months ago, the National Crime Agency (NCA), which is often dubbed the “UK’s FBI”, released its list of the 13 Most Wanted criminals in the country. Through collaboration with the Spanish police, six of the dangerous offenders were apprehended but seven are still at large – and they all have close ties with Spain and the Canary Islands.
Following the success of the campaign, Steve Reynolds, NCA regional head in Spain, warned that this country should no longer be considered “a safe haven” for criminals from the UK.
“It’s usual for fugitives to continue to commit crime while on the run and these men will be known in criminal circles wherever they are and some will be trying to blend into the large British communities for whom Spain is home,” he added, while asking residents and holidaymakers to pass on any information of their whereabouts to the local police.
These are the fugitives believed to be hiding out in Spain:
1. Calvin Parris
Originally from Cardiff, Parris is wanted for trafficking Class A drugs between February and June 2020. He is believed to be in Spain but his exact whereabouts are unknown. The 33-year-old is described as having distinctive upper gold teeth.
2. Asim Naveed
Asim Naveed, 31, is an associate of Parris and is suspected of being one of the ringleaders of a gang which trafficked 46 kilos of cocaine into Wales in 2020. He is 6ft 2in tall and has a scar on his left wrist. The authorities believe Naveed fled the UK in July 2020 via the Eurostar and is currently living in Malaga.
3. Jack Mayle
Suspect number three is Jack Mayle, a Surrey native in his mid-30s who worked with a dark web drug dealer to supply large quantities of MDMA, LSD, diazepam and other prescription drugs. Mayle has a diamond tattoo on his face as well as a partial sleeve on his left arm. The fugitive is hiding out in Marbella and is described as potentially armed and dangerous.
4. Alex Male
Alex Male, also in his mid-30s, is originally from Weston-super-Mare and is wanted for the supply cocaine and ketamine, money laundering and conspiracy to acquire a firearm in the south west of England. He has several tattoos including a skull on his adams apple and a full sleeve on his left arm. According to the authorities, he has links to Spain, Portugal and Turkey.
5. Mark Francis Roberts
29-year-old Mark Francis Roberts from Liverpool is understood to be hiding out in Spain. The young criminal fled the UK after grievously wounding a man while attempting to steal his watch in 2016 and is wanted for grievous bodily harm and attempted robbery.
6. John James Jones
Next on the list is 32-year-old John James Jones from Lancaster who left the UK after repeatedly stabbing two victims. According to the authorities, he spent a night in Madrid immediately following the attack but may have since moved to Ibiza.
7. Callum Michael Allan
Rounding up the UK’s Most Wanted is Callum Michael Allan, 24, originally from South Shields and known to his associates as Ginger or Ginge. Allan is wanted for twelve alleged offences including: Possession with intent to supply Class A (heroin), supply Class A (cocaine), possession of cannabis, assaulting an emergency worker, affray and dangerous driving. He fled while out on bail in April 2020 and is believed to now be living somewhere in the Costa del Sol.
Anyone with information about any of the men is urged to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, while callers in Spain should call the freephone Spanish number +34 900 926 111.
