ARCHIVED - Small earthquake in Lorqui and Molina de Segura
The earthquake happened late last night, but only measured 2.4 on the Richter scale
An earthquake measuring 2.4 on the Richter scale took place in the town of Molina de Segura last night, Thursday May 19.
The earthquake took place at 10.21pm and its epicentre was at a depth of five kilometres.
At 10.24pm, the Emergency Coordination Centre received several calls from residents of Lorquí, who could feel the tremor.
Given the low intensity of the earthquake, it did not cause any damage.
Several hours later, at 6.03am this morning, Friday May 20, another earthquake occurred in the northeast of Aledo, with a magnitude of 1.5 and a depth of one kilometre.
In the Region of Murcia small tremors are common and sometimes there are several per week, but they rarely exceed two degrees of magnitude on the Richter scale, although last month an earthquake in Águilas reached up to 3.5.
