ARCHIVED - Spain recalls common blood pressure medication
The widely used drug has been on the market in Spain for more than 30 years
The Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) has issued an alert regarding one of the most widely used blood pressure medications in the country: Enalapril Alter 20mg, manufactured by Toll Manufacturing Services.
Fortunately, the withdrawal from market affects only one batch, number 499R which has an expiration date of July 31 2023. According to AEMPS, random sampling detected some anomalies in the drug and pharmacies have been asked to remove the contaminated batches from their shelves. Likewise, anyone who has purchased the medication should refrain from using it and return it to the store.
On the market in Spain for more than 30 years, Enalapril, or enalapril, is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor drug commonly used to treat high blood pressure and some forms of chronic heart failure.
