Speed bumps to be installed on La Torre Golf Resort
Drivers surpassing the speed limit is an ongoing problem at many resorts in Murcia
Speed bumps are set to be installed on La Torre Golf Resort following approval from Torre Pacheco town council. The Security team at the resort submitted the request in August 2024, highlighting the need for traffic-calming measures to address safety concerns in areas with a significant risk of accidents.
The Security team has now confirmed that the town council has now given the green light for the project, and work is expected to begin shortly. The initiative aims to reduce vehicle speeds in residential areas, enhancing safety for both pedestrians and residents.
Speeding has been a recurring issue on residential golf resorts in the region, with the nearby Mar Menor Golf Resort, which is also within the municipality of Torre Pacheco, reporting significant problems. On the Mar Menor complex, drivers frequently ignore speed limits, resulting in several cats being run over annually. This has raised concerns about the safety of pets, children and all residents in these communities.
The installation of speed bumps on La Torre Golf Resort is a proactive measure to address these issues and ensure the wellbeing of its residents, and other resorts would do well to try to emulate them.
