Spring weather arrives in Spain: Weather forecast March 11-14
The weather in Spain will be very changeable over the next few days, with a mix of sunny skies and showers
Weather outlook on Wednesday March 13
After a turbulent start to the month with the passing of Storm Mónica and its accompanying fronts, the weather in Spain is finally set to take a turn for the better. According to the latest forecasts, a weak anticyclonic ridge will establish itself across the country starting later in the week, bringing with it a period of stability and sunny skies.
However, before things settle down completely, a small DANA (a type of low-pressure system) is expected to pass through the southern region of the country, briefly disrupting the peaceful conditions. But this minor disturbance won't last long, and the anticyclone will quickly rebuild itself as we head towards the weekend.
Monday March 11
There will be a huge improvement in the weather on Monday after such a stormy weekend, but some instability will remain for the time being, with cloudy or overcast skies in the north accompanied by scattered rain.
Both daytime and night-time temperatures will increase in most areas, and the mercury will creep into the low 20s in Alicante and Murcia.
Several weather alerts remain active on Monday, mainly for strong winds and rough seas.
Tuesday March 12
Tuesday will be very pleasant overall, with mostly clear skies throughout Spain and the Balearic Islands, with the exception of some cloudy intervals in the north.
Maximum temperatures will increase across the board, except for a slight drop on the Mediterranean coast, while minimum temperatures will drop by a few degrees, with possible frosts.
Wednesday March 13
Anticyclonic conditions will continue in most of the country and the Balearic Islands, but cloudy skies are expected in the southwest, potentially leading to some light rain in the area around the Strait of Gibraltar, which could reach the rest of coastal Andalucía later in the day.
Daytime temperatures will decrease in the southwest, while increasing in the rest of the country. Minimum temperatures will decline in the Cantabrian area and the Ebro Valley, but rise elsewhere.
Thursday March 14
Cloud cover is expected to increase in Galicia and the west of the Cantabrian area on Thursday, spreading eastward as the hours go by. Rain is likely in Galicia, especially in the western half, and there may be intervals of clouds in the southwest. Scattered showers could also make their way to parts of western Andalucía.
Daytime temperatures will decrease slightly on the Atlantic coast and the Canary Islands, while rising by a degree or two on the Cantabrian coast, Ebro and the Mediterranean area. Thursday evening will be much warmer than previous days.
