ARCHIVED - Storms, rain and varying temperatures: Spain weather forecast Nov 21-24
A succession of storms will bring very mixed weather to all of Spain in the coming days

The arrival of several storm fronts will result in episodes of strong winds, dangerous sea conditions and heavy rain in much of the country this week, with several provinces subject to weather alerts over the coming days. But after a noticeable drop in temperature during the weekend the thermometers should shoot back up, resulting in another few days of spring-like weather, particularly in the south of Spain.
On Monday November 21 a very active Atlantic front will sweep across Spain from northwest to southeast until it reaches the Mediterranean coast at the end of the day, bringing widespread rain to a large part of the country and the Balearic Islands.
The worst of the weather will be confined to the north, although Aemet has also predicted very strong gusts in the Mediterranean. No fewer than 15 regions have been put on alert: among them, Andalucia is under an orange weather warning for wind and adverse sea conditions, while Murcia and Valencia both have yellow alerts in place.
Maximum temperatures will tend to rise, reaching 24ºC in Alicante, but the snow will again arrive in central and northern Spain.
On Tuesday November 22 the strong gusts will continue to affect the Mediterranean area, weakening in intensity inland and in the eastern part of the country. In addition, with the arrival of a new mass of cold air, daytime temperatures will plummet, dipping by as much as 5 or 6ºC in many regions.
The state of the sea will also worsen in coastal areas, with waves that will reach 6 metres in Galicia and Cantabria and between 3 and 4 metres in the Balearic Islands.
Nine communities have significant weather warnings in place.
By Wednesday November 23 the mercury will once again rise to more spring-like temperatures in the south, hovering around the mid to high 20s in Alicante, Murcia and Malaga, although several communities maintain a yellow weather warning for dangerous waves and wind.
The day will be very overcast in the north and central Spain, but the skies will remain mostly clear or slightly cloudy along the Mediterranean.
The situation becomes much more difficult to predict from Thursday November 24 as the direction of the storm remains unclear; as a result, Aemet has yet to issue any concrete warnings about the intensity of the wind or the sea conditions.
For now, meteorologists expect cloudy skies and some heavy rain in the northwest of Spain, and storms which may be locally strong along the Atlantic coast of Galicia. The rain could also affect the rest of the county with the exception of the Mediterranean area, where the day will be cloudy but most likely dry.
