ARCHIVED - Sunny skies and rising temperatures for May long weekend: Spain weather April 29-May 1
The fine weather won’t last too long and rain is set to return to Spain at the beginning of May

The last week of April remained true to form and a storm entering from the west of Spain on Monday April 25 spread rain across the country as the days went on, culminating in stormy weather throughout Thursday, which was particularly fierce in the southeast.
However, we are in for a brief reprieve from Friday, and as many communities prepare for a long weekend to celebrate May Day, most of Spain will experience clear skies and rising temperatures, with the exception of Almeria, Murcia and Alicante, where the weather is set to remain unstable.
Francisco Martin, an expert from Meteored, has predicted temperatures of up to 27ºC in many areas, as “an anticyclonic ridge will bring more stable weather to almost all of Spain.”
The good weather won’t last though, and from Sunday afternoon clouds will begin moving in from Galicia before settling over the entire country.
Friday April 29

Spain will dawn bright and warm on Friday, with temperatures that will rise to around 20ºC as the morning goes on. Throughout the afternoon clouds will develop in mountainous areas of the north, which will give rise to scattered showers.
As the day lengthens, the mercury will rise across the country, with Alicante and Murcia forecast for highs of 24ºC, while Sevilla could reach a toasty 27ºC.
The suspended dust that has plagued the Mediterranean coast since Wednesday will continue to hang about in the Balearic Islands and the southeast of the peninsula, while night-time temperatures are also on the increase, forecast to reach 15ºC in parts of Andalucía.
A yellow weather warning is in place for storms in Aragon and Catalonia
Saturday April 30

On Saturday there will be some clouds on the north coast and isolated showers in Barcelona, Lleida and Girona, although in general Spain will enjoy a bright and sunny day. Maximum temperatures will hover between 17ºC and 27ºC, and the warmest weather will hit Andalucía, Toledo and Zamora.
After a sunny morning, some clouds will develop in the Balearic Islands while isolated storms can’t be ruled out in mountain areas. The suspended dust will begin to ease off and on Sunday will mainly affect the southern Atlantic coast and the Canary Islands.
There is a yellow weather alert in place for heavy showers in Catalonia.
Sunday May 1

Little change is expected on Sunday morning, which will dawn with clear skies across Spain but as the day develops, clouds will sweep in from Galicia and spread over the rest of Spain. Rain is expected in the afternoon in the north and the Balearic Islands, while the Saharan dust will remain in the Canary Islands.
Temperatures will remain high, between 17ºC and 29ºC, though Sevilla could reach a sweltering 31ºC.
Outlook for next week
According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), the showers will extend even further come Monday May 2, developing into storms in Madrid, Albacete and the interior of the Valencian Community, and the damp conditions are expected to continue well into next week.
