Suspect arrested in connection with brutal stabbing of Alicante tourist
The victim has been identified as a Singapore tourist who was holidaying in Jávea, Alicante
The Guardia Civil of Murcia have arrested the man believed to be responsible for the brutal murder of Audrey Fang, a 39-year-old Singaporean tourist. Ms Fang, who went missing in the Alicante town of Jávea, was discovered dead on April 10 in a field near Abanilla in Murcia.
Her body bore around thirty stab wounds, leading authorities to open a homicide investigation. Her alleged murderer is also believed to be from Singapore, although a firm connection between victim and suspect has yet to be established.
Audrey Fang had travelled to Spain for a holiday, checking into a luxury hotel with a spa in Jávea, where she had a reservation from April 4 to 10. After failing to return home and missing her connecting flight in Barcelona, her worried family contacted local police. Sadly, Ms Fang's lifeless body was located just a day after her final contact with relatives.
Her remains were discovered near Salado Alto in the Mahoya district of Abanilla. Initially, investigators couldn't identify the body due to the absence of personal documents. However, while examining security footage from nearby establishments, officers spotted a crucial detail that helped piece together the events surrounding Ms Fang's death. According to reports, the prime suspect in the case currently resides in Alicante.
Now, law enforcement officials aim to gather information regarding the incident and determine whether the crime took place in Alicante province before the body was transported to the Region of Murcia.
The suspect remains in police custody and is expected to appear before a judge on Friday April 19 to answer the charges.
