The best resorts in Spain
These are top destinations for a resort vacation in Spain
When you think about a beach holiday in Spain, it’s hard to know where to start because the Spanish coast has over 600 magnificent beaches, as many as the number of live casino games online, believe it or not. So how to decide where to go for your Spanish beach holiday? These are the main seaside resorts that allow you to have the most diverse vacation in one of the six coastal regions of Spain.
Canary Islands
The Canaries are an exotic destination even for the Spaniards themselves. Washed by the Atlantic Ocean, the seven volcanic islands are located off the northwest coast of Africa. Of these, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Palma, and Fuerteventura are worth special attention. The Canary archipelago is a resort region known for its dry, warm climate and endless beach season. The Canary Islands, washed by the waves of the Atlantic Ocean, certainly have something to boast about, and this applies not only to resort recreation in coastal hotels.
Tenerife
Tenerife is the largest island of the archipelago, the “island of eternal spring”. The temperature rarely drops below 21ºC, and the best things to visit are the active volcano Teide and the nearby national park.
Teide is the third highest volcano in the world and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its observatory is one of the top three places in the world to observe the starry sky. You can climb to the top of the volcano on foot or by cable car. Teide is one of the most beautiful and impressive volcanoes. Thanks to the play of light, its appearance changes during the day, especially impressive at night against a starry sky.
Gran Canaria
The people of Gran Canaria know how to have fun: one of the island’s oldest carnival traditions goes back more than five centuries! Every February, colourful processions, dancing, music and extravagant costumes fill the streets and make you want to return each year to visit the Carnaval de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The mild climate and lack of heat makes this island perfect for a winter trip. Coming here even for a few days and basking in the sun, you will survive the harsh winter much easier.
Much of the island has been recognized by UNESCO as a unique nature reserve in the world. The flora and fauna of the “Blessed Isles”, as they were dubbed by the ancient Greeks, include species which can not be found anywhere else in the world. The island’s volcanic nature and topography offer a variety of landscapes, from beaches with black sand that look like they are from another planet, to places with abundant vegetation and bright colours.
Balearic Islands: Ibiza
Ibiza is the most fashionable resort in Europe. Sun, sea, freedom, round-the-clock fun that turns into a break and a relaxing family vacation – all this you will find in Ibiza, a wonderful island in the Mediterranean Sea, which is a part of the Balearic archipelago and belongs to Spain.
The island is not too small, and it’s interesting enough from all angles that you’ll never get bored, but it’s not too big either, so you’ll feel right at home a few days after you arrive. It has all the ingredients to make a truly chic vacation: landscaped, well-equipped beaches or wild places for swimming, tennis courts, golf courses, an ancient fortress, narrow stone-paved streets, but most enticing – the fact that the island just dotted with bars and restaurants. The wonderful nature with pine trees, cacti and palm trees, combined with the atmosphere of unrestrained entertainment, makes a stay on the island an absolute holiday must.
