The coldest day of the season is on the way: Spain weather forecast Nov 6-9
Several Atlantic fronts will bring plenty of rain to northern Spain but the south should remain dry
Weather alerts on Monday November 6
The effects of Domingos, the second high-impact storm to hit Spain in recent days will begin to abate this week and although several Atlantic fronts will pass over the country, the rain and winds will lessen considerably and the sea conditions will improve.
The first proper frosts of the season will set in early in the week and, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), the temperatures should be “normal for the season” and somewhat lower inland. Between Monday November 6 and Tuesday November 7, the mercury will remain below a minimum of 7ºC and a maximum of 15ºC in most of the country.
Orange weather alerts for adverse sea conditions and/or heavy rain have been issued in Cantabria, Galicia and the Basque Country on Monday.
"The early morning of Tuesday will probably be the coldest day so far this autumn, with minimum temperatures below 5ºC in much of the interior of the peninsula and frost on the northern plateau and central moors," Aemet spokesperson Rubén del Campo has predicted. It could freeze in cities like Soria, Burgos, Teruel, Cuenca or Ávila and in Madrid thermometers will remain at a minimum of 2ºC. The winds will blow from the west, but will gradually lose intensity.
However, there may still be strong gusts in eastern Spain and the Balearic Islands. In the Canary Islands, a moderate trade wind will blow, with strong intervals, easing at the end of the week. Temperatures will not experience major changes in the archipelago, but there’s a strong possibility of heavy rainfall in the north at the beginning of the week.
Yellow weather alerts for rough seas have been issued in Asturias, Cantabria, Galicia and the Basque Country on Tuesday.
Rain will once again arrive in northern Spain on Wednesday November 8, and this wet weather could easily spread to the rest of the country. However, on the whole, the day is expected to be pleasant in the southeast bar some early morning mists.
Daytime temperatures will tend to increase, more markedly inland and in the Canary Islands, while the night will be considerably warmer in the extreme south.
Galicia has been issued with a yellow weather warning for rough seas on Wednesday.
A new front will sweep across Spain on Thursday November 9, creating an unsettled day with mostly overcast skies, with the exception of the Mediterranean area, which will be mostly clear and bright. Rain will again hit the north, spreading from west to east as the front advances.
There is a chance that this rain will spread to the rest of Spain, although it’s expected to remain dry in the extreme southeast.
Temperatures are predicted to increase across the board.
