The only 2 Spanish holiday destinations recommended by Forbes for 2026
The prestigious publication has drawn up a list of 26 places around the world that are worth travelling to this year, and two are in Spain

With 2026 now well underway, the annual travel wish lists are starting to roll in, and Forbes has just revealed its pick of the 26 destinations around the world it says are worth visiting this year. While the list includes some far flung and exotic spots like Batumi in Georgia and Uganda, there is some very good news for Spain lovers, as two destinations on the list are right here at home.
According to the publication, one of the Spanish picks is already a firm favourite with travellers across Europe, while the other is a city that has seen its tourism boom in recent years. Both are ideal options for a Spanish getaway, offering plenty to see and do without needing to travel far.
Andalucia

One of the Spanish destinations Forbes says should be on everyone’s radar in 2026 is Andalucia. The region stands out for its mix of history, stunning architecture and a modern cultural scene that keeps evolving, particularly in cities like Sevilla, Córdoba and Granada.
From iconic landmarks such as Sevilla Cathedral, the Mosque Cathedral in Córdoba and the Alhambra in Granada, to contemporary art exhibitions, festivals and events, Andalucia offers far more than just its headline attractions. Beyond the big names, the expansive community is packed with hidden corners and lesser known treasures, making 2026 a great excuse to explore it in a little more depth.
Madrid

The other Spanish destination tipped by Forbes for 2026 is Madrid, a city that is firmly enjoying its moment in the spotlight. Tourism in the capital shows no signs of slowing down and it’s easy to see why so many travellers are being drawn in.
Madrid offers endless ways to experience the city, whether that means diving into its buzzing food scene, discovering new cultural spaces or simply soaking up the atmosphere on its streets and plazas.
There is always something new to do, and no two visits ever feel quite the same.
Of course, the city’s famous landmarks still play a big part in its appeal. The Royal Palace remains a must see, the Puerta de Alcalá is as photogenic as ever and just outside the city there are impressive royal sites like the palaces of Aranjuez and La Granja de San Ildefonso. Together, they help cement Madrid’s status as one of Spain’s biggest and most exciting tourist destinations heading into 2026.
